You would want the bracing behind the bar of the Devon unit otherwise the smallest Roo would total the corners!

The plastic bumper has firm ribbing. For tiny hits, I think those will hold shape.

For major hits, I think the default design will crumple in multiple spots. Not only the metal bumper.

I agree that there will be a case where a hit ( at a specific angle and forced) would be handled by the factory bumper (or Devon bumper) which the smaller box would protect. i personally think this use case would be rare.

Imo the majority of hits big enough to collapse the plastic bumper would do damage to more than just the metal bumper.

Imo, this small corner case didn't justify the much higher cost of the Devon. My 2 cents. Each to their own.

They’ll really mess up an aesthetic hidden winch on D3/4 with standard bumper and NO roo-bar

    Bloody things!!!

I have now just finished fitting my Discrete winch mount. Just a question. Should the earth lead of the winch be at the battery terminal or at one of those earth points that LR recommend?

    Thanks

Meant to say I have a twin battery traxide system. I have the + at 2nd battery. So still use an earth point?

You should power winch from Primary only and earth the body earth points.

    Don’t run a winch from 2nd battery..

I earthed the winch wiring on the inner guard terminal just in front of the battery box.

I connected the +ve to the 12 volt lug at the beginning of the fuse box. Just inside the battery box. I considered having it come directly off the positive terminal, but was content with the place I chose.
