Graeme, you might be right.
I started the car this morning and had to lower it to get out of the garage.. once down and outside it won’t go back up. Same error, waiting for cooling.
Any tips on who I should go to for servicing? Will LR take it on?
LR had a campaign to replace all Hitachi compressors in early D4s with AMK. The campaign has since been terminated so no more free AMK compressors for those hat didn't get changed.
I suspect the fiddling with wires around the sensors may have overcome a short circuit which if true means that the fault will return from time to time.

You say the compressor is new? Have you upgraded the car to tell it it has the AMK not Hitachi in it now? Not sure what difference that makes or if it’s related, but a thought none the less.

Yep compressor is a month old.
Worked perfectly until Saturday
I used it on the beach and some decent off-road tracks on Friday, dropped to access height in the afternoon while camping.
Woke up the next day to go on the beach and didn’t lift

Are they any good? I have a (very) high level of distrust for mechanics
for the record I was wrong, it definitely wasn't draining the battery that fixed it because I tried it again this morning to no avail.
I will do each of the previous steps in succession as a process of elimination

The car is telling you a compressor sensor is out of range! Can you trust what the car is telling you...
found the problem..
From process of elimination it was one of the temp sensors (vs wiring, connectors etc). I cut one of the wires for the sensor and voila the compressor sprung to action, raised the car etc.
All working well except now it shows a fault "temperature of compressor not rising when on demand" which I assume is car speak for the temp sensor is broken. Thankfully it doesn't shut down your ability to make adjustments and seems to act as a mere warning so if you were ever stuck in the bush with this problem you could safely cut the wire, return the car to height and see to getting the sensor/compressor repaired upon your return.
I'm now hoping Advance Factors in the UK will send me a new wiring loom to save me having to return the whole compressor and the delays involved (I should add they were very helpful in offering a refund straight away).
See pics of the issue I had and the wire I cut - note this is an aftermarket AMK but assume the others are similar.

I had the same warning message and cut the same wire, and it worked. Compressor back working and suspension back to normal height. No warning message about the compressor though. Very happy. Thanks for posting this.
