Thanks Guys. I'll go ahead and get another one then. Hopefully it never gets a run with any luck! Cheers.

The KO2 noise doesn’t bother me and has even reduced over time with wear. But does seem to bother other people so it’s a difficult one to answer, it’s very subjective. I know someone who runs Achilles Desert Hawks full time on his D4 and the noise doesn’t bother him. Perhaps he’s deaf.

So I swapped out my K02 265/65R18 122 tyres for D697 265/60R18 114 tyres and need to comment on how much more civilized they feel. Both LT rated, the K02’s heavier duty I would presume given the load rating.
No doubt the K02’s are better at the hard core off-road but as 90% of my driving is highway I love the feel of the 697’s. Hoping they’ll suit my purpose.

Brian if you read my post comparing both your response supports my views so nothing but well done on the choice from me.
Yes your duty cycle and a high degree of pragmatism should be the key to tyre choice. I do miss the 697's around town and on bitumen as I firmly believe they are measurably noisier from the Bridgestone's. Which is a very small part of where our D4 spends its time. But with the camper on the back and touring our outback tracks as I did a few weeks back and having travelled the same ones on the 697"s I am very happy with my decision. But at >25,000km off bitumen every year and 99% of that towing our duty cycle is rather different from the majority of owners

Brian the only thing that has been replaced in the last 3 years was a turbo under warranty. That's it. Reliability, comfort and capability are exceptional to the point where the extended warranty takes over on 9 December as our first three years of ownership ends and the next begins. The starter battery was replaced under warranty a month back and the Orbital was stuffed so that had to be done at the same time. That action fixed the low battery warnings I was getting. So in my view an excellent result from a car that is so much more fuel efficient than any competitor as well as just being better.
The car has been kept deliberately close to stock, apart from the really important stuff like; GOE rims, Llams and a Traxide DBMS. We rolled our 15 year old Rhino wire platform and tray on to three new aero bars and fitted a custom rear sliding tray that is one of the best things I have ever designed. An OE bull bar, side steps and rear ladder complete our setup.
Never found the need for anything else despite wading through the Kimberley last year
So that may put the kibosh on my excellent run of reliability and performance but I hope not

I had the BFG KO2 fitted today — 265/60/R18. Thanks to everyone for their comments, especially of course Rob.
Will post my thoughts in due course.
