For MY10 D4s the brake m/c and all pipes and hoses are the same part number for 2.7 and 3.0 engines. The vacuum pumps are not the same but as that is before the m/c I assumed that it wouldn't have any impact. My 1st hard braking test using new 2.7 discs, calipers and pads triggered ABS with the 19" wheels on coarse tar and caused me to think that I would hit the windscreen in the process, but I expect they would have overheated more quickly than the larger 3.0 brakes with repeated use especially if towing a heavy load.
People are happy to fit LT265/65R18 tyres (mostly BFG AT KO2) to D4s that are fitted with MY12+ shocks whilst a few others fit LT285/60R18.
PS I have a set of part worn LT245/70R17 Duratracs on BMW X5 rims collecting dust in my shed, but not the special nuts that are required for legal thread engagement. I also have the 2.7 front calipers that were removed when the D4 went to my son.
PPS No biasing valve is fitted, relying on wheel speed sensors to detect lock-up and the abs modulator to limit pressure to locking wheels.
