    Engine blanket for Disco 4

    Hi All,

Bought a disco 4, 2012 2.7L TDV6. It runs beautifully, no drams whatsoever - however this is my first diesel, and it's a bit noisy (specially at night - although LR has done amazing job with sound proofing). So, I was wondering whether an engine blanket like this --> Vehicle acoustic engine blankets - NK Group can be an option? Has anyone here used anything like this on a discovery 4? I'm from Perth - so it gets quite hot (not this year though) in summer - and if I have an engine blanket, will this cause any heating issues?

Any sound proofing/insulation suggestions would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you!

The car has climate control - drive with the windows up and then you cannot hear the engine .

But then it is a diesel so the engine is naturally a bit noisier than a petrol.

Moving from petrol to diesel you will hear an increase in noise but I can say that the disco is a quiet car compared to the rest. Unless you have a specific problem with the firewall lining or something is wrong in the engine bay, I think you will get used to it.

    IMHO...
I would avoid any additional insulating product that covers engine, turbo etc.

If you feel you really want to do something, maybe look at one that fixes to the underside of the bonnet.

To quiet it inside the cabin or outside?

You won’t get much benefit either way...

Diesels at noisy, It's just the way it is.
If you want quiet get a petrol engine because there isn't much you can do to keep a diesel engine quiet Bar turning it off

Thanks everyone .. the noise is only heard when everything is turned off (air-con, audio), and I'm not terribly bothered.. just thinking whether there's anything I could do to reduce it a bit.. i guess I will get used to it in a little while.

Thanks for your feedback - I will definitely not waste my money on an engine blanket!
