I wonder if it’s hiding another issue? I’ve got a Safari and have been in pretty extreme wind and not had an issue?
So thank you to all those who have offered advice to the issues experienced since last September.
My 2011 SDV6 was tripping a Restricted Performance Mode that would clear following a restart. The problem first came up when travelling to Cape York and despite time spent plugged in to the magic box at Rova Range, it came back again post an upgrade of the engine software and a new MAF sensor including smoke testing the inlet. (Yes I looked at the sticking secondary turbo valve0 Just a big thanks to Jason at Rova Range, no charge for the investigation as his professional curiosity to the issue was as much a puzzle for him as myself.
Last weekend the problem arose again and this time I had enough "common" elements to solve the issue.
Restricted Performance would come on when under light throttle, or cruise control, sitting around 100 kmh
It had never come up before by big trip.
Often we would feel a hesitation in the D4, coinciding with the wind !!!!
So.....I got thinking that the Snorkel was fitted for the big trip, its a Safari with the Ram Air head.
The problem came up in gusty winds......could the issue that the diagnostic computer said was related to out of parameter air pressures in the inlet manifold. I had just pulled over and cleaned the MAF sensor and refitted it, only to have the problem as soon as I left Yea heading down the Melba to Melbourne.
So I pulled into Glenburn servo, turned around the Ram head and fingers crossed, headed off.....
PROBLEM SOLVED !!!!!!
Seems the sensitivity of the parameters set did not like the impact of gusting winds (it was enough to shake the vehicle) and with the head turned around, the car runs noticeable smoother.
Landrover RAI does not have the ram head so would not have this.
Hope this may help others and again, a big thanks to Rova Range in working through this with me.

Is a sock fitted? There are heaps of 3.0 D4's with ram-heads including my old one that never suffered such a problem.

Owen, if that's not the cause perhaps another look at intercooler hoses noting the mine was not split so wouldn't have failed a smoke test. My thread > Restricted Performance Event

Spoke too soon, its popped its head up again.
Cruise control was on, its the other common link. Not sure what to look at now !!!!
What i have noticed with the air ram turned around, its nice listening to the induction noises driving hard up a mountain as the second turbo kicks in and out at 2500 rpm......clearly the actuator is not sticking !
