I’m currently running Pirelli Scorpian ATR Plus - love them! Very quiet, moderately aggressive and very secure in dry or wet, bitumen or dirt. Mine are 255/55 R 19, but you can get them in 20”.
Had gone for a long drive and was showing 8.4 L per 100 but when I filled up and calculated consumption was 1 or 1.5 litre more if I remember correctly.
On another note can somebody confirm if they were able to fit a 265/50/20 wheel in the spare location of a discovery 4 or was their any issues?
I fitted 265/65R17 which is theoretically very slightly larger diameter into a D4 spare wheel area.

Thanks Graeme. That helps a lot for me to take a decision.
Planning to go for Nitto Terra Grappler 265/50/20 when I change the tyres in 3 months time just so that if I decide to go a little off road I don’t need to worry much.
Not sure why but tyresales.com.au or any similar online websites don’t have stock of them.
I don't know what alternatives to the TG exist in this size but a brother destroyed 2 TGs on his RRS on 1 trip.

1 sidewall and the other through the tread on an outback track while doing his best endeavours to avoid rocks that could damage the tyres.
The Monsta Terrain Gripper is available in this size and has a significantly higher load rating so I expect it to have a stronger carcass. However they're probably somewhat noisy.

I didn't find the Monsta too bad noise wise. A little bit louder than the Nitto but not much. Bob Janes now sell a Radar Tyre in that size which is LT rated. I suspect it would be noisier than the Monsta though.

We recently fitted nitto terra grapple g2 265/50/20. I didn't want to go to the 275/50/20 as I have read a few issues with rubbing. No probs fitting the 265 as the spare. Haven't tried them out off road yet, but not planning on any outback tracks. I went with these over the monsta as 95% of our driving is on road with the rest beach or relatively mild tracks. They are as quite as the scorpion road tyres and have been fine in the recent torrential rain. It's a hard choice...
