You need to take it to a good Indi for another opinion.

Hopefully someone will chime in with a good one in your area.

After leaving dealers I reset trip/fuel meter on dash shockingly my fuel consumption has dropped to between 14/16 litres 100k.Amazing now do I stress about this starter motor and crankshaft sensor.Car has never had issues starting.Sensor looks like it’s in hard place to reach on top of bell housing as well.

If the sensor was an issue you’d know about it. The car would flag errors and should show signs of the issue. I would pretend this never happened and drive on. Fuel consumption

    Starter motor

IF the starter is so badly worn that bits of metal are flying off to the point it wears / interferes / damages other parts it would without question sound very sick when cranking the engine over...
I am willing to put a wager on it that the starter sounds fine and the car starts without issue.

I would act as if this never happened.

I would also find a good Indy mechanic. Dealers aren't called stealers for nothing, particularly with a second hand car with no warranty

I'd put this as being on the edge of fraud - $2500 to fix a fault that may not actually exist??

Agree with others - either forget about it, or seek trusted advice from an independent. Should the advice reveal nothing wrong with the starter there must be some avenue to force the dealer to explain themselves? Consumer protection or similar? How many other people have simply accepted bogus diagnosis and paid up to fix nothing?

When the battery is disconnected for any period the trip computer will reset and it always starts off with high consumption until it works it's way down to where you were before, so it's probably nothing. But the dealer is unscrupulous in quoting $2500 to fix nothing, that's why I hate dealers.

I assume that you do realise that the average fuel consumption display will take many kilometres to settle down to give a reliable reading. Most will read very high for a while and then get back to normal levels after a fair bit of distance. My son's V8 D3 reads 22 for a while after being reset and after a 100 kilometres is down to between 12 and 13, or as low a mid 11's if on a country road.

Why not simply keep a manual log and work it out accurately? Then you would know for sure. There are apps available that do this if you so desire..The quoted figures always have been dodgy to say he least from what I've read previously and experienced myself.
