    current windscreen replacements

Reviving this thread as I have my MY13 Discovery HSE booked in with Obrians Toowoomba on this coming friday for a cracked screen replacement.
Does anyone know what screens they are using at the moment?
    Thanks

I’ve usually just asked the insurer and fitter to ensure the windscreen is a LR one, and to ensure that they also bring a new set of side trim clips.
Worked every time. Well, on both occasions.

What Ron says. My insurer (RACV) would only pay for an aftermarket one, but said that if I purchased a genuine screen they would refund the aftermarket amount plus fitting. I ordered the screen from the dealer plus the clips and I asked them for the people they use to replace their screens. The parts arrived and when the installers came they knew exactly what they were doing, were pleased I had the clips, did a great job and were happy for me to watch. Sent the installer bill plus the parts bill to RACV and they paid me in full without question.

I'm with youi, claimed on Sunday was fitted Tuesday morning. They use a national group with uses local sub contractors. My screen is aftermarket. My last one was too. Fuyao I think is the brand. I can check. All was good. Got super lucky with the installer. The only issue I've had with the screen is the coating on the inside took a fair bit of cleaning off.

Over the past 8 years I have had my screen replaced twice with two different insurance companies - the installer was O'Brien who only use genuine. I did not claim direct with the insurance companies and submitted the claim to O'Briens who did everything. No problems.

My view is that with insurance claims - for all incidents where new parts are required they must be OEM, so a a LR screen is to be fitted. The other aspect is that if you allow a sub standard aftermarket screen to be fitted then you are stuck with aftermarket as insurance companies will rarely provide a better unit.

If the broken screen is LR then I would be insisting that it be provided like with like.

Another point i made was to ask the insurer / fitter if they install a non-genuine windscreen, will they guarantee that the sensors for auto wipers etc will operate as before.
They couldn’t guarantee this, so agreed to install original.

Windscreen broken yet again, 2nd time in just over a year. It's been over 40 years since I had my first one broken by a drunken oaf hurling a brick at me as I passed a pub! Bloody noise shocked me.
Anyway, no way was I going back to Novus who were a bunch of yobs who knew what they were doing but took no care whatsoever and broke clips etc which I didn't know about until the left hand A pillar cover nearly blew right off on a trip.
So O'Briens got the job. Spoke to the technician and he seemed to know what he was doing and would take care..... but the left hand internal A pillar cover has deep scratches and was filthy. They cleaned the marks off but scratches can still be seen but they have ordered a new cover.
I am so bloody ****ed off with the couldn't care less just get the job done attitude of these bloody useless so called "technicians" but what the hell can you do about it?
My younger bro in Sidney is the same. Took his absolute top of the range RRS to a recommended (on here) repairer and got treated like crap and he drove off when one filthy overalled mechanic went to get in his car in his disgusting dirty state.
That plus the attitude of the boss who said to the "mechanic" ..."You ****ing deal with him, you know it all"!
What a way to talk in front of a client.
    Rant over.... for now.

I have just had my screen replaced by O’Briens in Coffs Harbour. They were totally professional and I got a Pilkington branded Opticool, but not LR branded.
They also used new clips, the sensor works correctly as well.
This is the second screen done by them as the first was replaced eight years ago with genuine.
    Their workshop is spotless.

+1 for O'Brien, I've had 2 screens replaced by them, both times at the Rockingham branch, top job each time.
