    Coolant Leak 2005 Discovery 3

    Hello,
My D3 is losing about 1/2 the overflow tank of coolant every 1500 Km. Just drove to Adelaide and back, a needed to top up with 1 ltr at each end of the trip.
Engine temp is fine, gauge sits just under halfway and does not move, had a look with IID tool and coolant temp was 98 degrees.
On inspection found red clues on the top of the engine, near where the EGR pipe would be on the left-hand side. see photos, coolant bleed tube is connected to it.

Have checked that bolts are tight, but don't want to lean on them too hard as it looks like a plastic fitting.
Can someone confirm that this part is called the "Water Outlet Assembly"?
Would this just be a gasket replacement?
Any idea on how hard it is to replace?
On first look I can see two bolts, and guess I need to make sure I go through the whole coolant refill process/bleed.
    Regards,
    Richard

Refer to the D4 cooling system thread where I describe this part and how it fails. Easy to replace, yes. Not sure if the part number differs by models. Looks the same.

And no, not gasket but the plastic joins split causing them to leak.

Check this part as an example that might fit your model. LR073372

Consider you have dodged a bullet if you have warning to replace.

Check clearance of small coolant hoses from accessory belt pulleys also at front top of engine.

    Replace it asap!

I had this part fail on me last weekend while doing 110 kph. Lost all coolant, "engine overheating msg" luckily didn't cook it due to spearing it down the spoon drain and shutting it off quickly. 400km from home fully loaded didn't help matters.

Thanks to the D4 driver that did not bother to stop and help. Land rover chivalry dying I'm afraid.

    Cheers
    Scott.
