    Fob not working

    Hi all
    A long time since I posted, my situation is a little different now, mainly touring for 6 months of the year around Oz.

    I will post a thread on this soon.

    Having problems with one of my fobs, the 3 buttons won't work but the key still starts the motor.

    I have tried the following:
    - Checked battery voltage, 3.2 V
    - replaced the case because I thought that the buttons were not contacting the switches inside
    - I have put it through the relearning module on my Faultmate.

    The only result I occasionally get is one operation of a button and then nothing.

    Can anyone throw some ideas at me?

    If you can give the FOB a light tap on something and it starts working then it could be the solder connection of the battery onto the circuit board

    I replaced the cases on my 2 fobs last night. Could see the circuit board through the holes in the case.

    I got fobs with batteries and they had 3 new buttons with each case. Didn't use them as the buttons were fine.

    Did you get new buttons? The buttons must be an issue to be supplied as well.

    Thanks SeanC and shanegtr, I took Shanes advice, resoldered the two battery connectors and bingo! all OK. probably my soldering in the first place when I replaced the battery.

    Seems to be a common issue - especially if the FOB gets dropped a few times as the battery is heavy compared to everything else on the board so seems to suffer the most. I've had to do it to mine a couple of times

    Well I've had the D3 for 9 years, 360000 od K,s so yes the fob has been dropped a few times!

    What batteries did you use - an original rechargable battery or a commonly available non rechargable version. If the latter, do you have to disable the recharge function to stop the non rechargable battery from cooking when on charge?

    Replacing battery.

    Pull fob apart.
    Get a Cr2330, with the pretty yellow around it.
    Desolder the 2 tabs that hold old battery on.
    replace battery, resolder tabs.
    put fob on
    test. Done
