Tombie that's Interesting about the drum .That is not my experience in a D1 or D2 with 2 plus ton hanging off the rear on steep boat ramps. I'm a fan of the drum and driveline lockup is better than rear only. What caused the problem on the drum or drums you saw Tombie? Cheers

I suspect that'll never happen to me either because my vehicle gets left in gear (or park) and with the handbrake on. I can't imagine that the handbrake failed and it jumped out of gear as well all at the same time before rolling away. Hardly a rough crossing by the video... Would have to blame the nut begin the wheel on this one, methinks.

It's an immediate application each and every time with me... seriously this isn't a reason to have an EPB...EPB. Why?

Yes. They prob did forget to have the brake on. Their fault. However that ferry should have had a chain across the rear. Even as a basic safety precaution in case passengers or crew were in that lower rear section. I think the ferry operators should have anticipated such a situation could arise and planned that such a mistake would not have resulted in the loss of a vehicle.

Yep, if it was a truck, there'd be a bluey for insecure load!

Haha. No my application is immediate. If people need EPB so their vehicle doesn't roll off barges (ie they forget to pull on manual handbrakes) they should think about driverless autonomous vehicles or public transport. Cheers

And they shouldn't have the privilege of having a drivers license.......

As for the EPB,something else to go wrong, which they love to do,technology for technology sake......again

Couldn't agree more mate. The D4 I was at the Cape with was squealing like a banshi due to the EPB. I know there are ways of cleaning them if you can get access to a hose etc but he didn't have that in the middle of nowhere and it was painful. It just isn't required. Cheers
