I tapped into the high beam wire in the loom right behind the plug at the LH headlight.
Wiring up some driving lights for the D4. Where and how is the best place to tap into the high beam circuit?
Found this thread on the search function but it does not really answer my question or indeed the question asked in the thread.
D4 High Beam Wiring for Driving lights
A picture showing where and how it's done would be great if someone has one handy.

I tapped into the high beam wire in the loom right behind the plug at the LH headlight.
Just exposed some wire and soldered the driving light trigger wire on to it? Or is there a better way of doing it.

Hi Ferret, remove the grill and then remove the passenger side headlight assembly.
With the headlight assembly unplugged and removed, you will have easy access to the headlight wiring loom at the plug.
Locate the thick blue wire with a grey ( slate ) trace in it.
You can either solder your trigger wire to the Blue/Slate wire or simply use a Scotch Lock to join the wires.
While you have the headlight assembly removed, have a look at the area just behind where the assembly fits. This is the perfect spot to mount your driving light relay, even if you have a dual battery tray installed.
This location gives you a short cable run from the relay to the cranking battery positive ( + ) terminal. The shorter the cable run, the brighter your driving lights can be.
Great timing, on the list for weekend projects.

Hi Drivesafe,
I'm putting a light bar on the roof platform, thinking of mounting the relay near the abs unit and running the cable up the A pillar under the plastic guard.
Is there a way to connect into the high beam switch circuit under the steering wheel?
Thanks in advance,
andy
I would tap into wiring near the headlight.

Hi Andy, as loanrangie posted, I think it would be wiser to just pickup the feed at or near the headlight.
This is the high current part of the circuit and the wiring from the switch would be a very low current circuit and you may interfere with the switch circuits operation.
