Tow bar wiring diagram for Discovery 3 SE 2007

    Hi All.
Being the proud new owner of a lovely shiny 2007 Java black Discovery 3 SE, I would like to use it to pull our caravan, however I am having a little trouble working out what goes where in the two sockets 7N large & 7S large either side of the hitch receiver when i put a meter on the pins, it shows varying results??
I heard that you need a load connected before you can use a meter to test which pin is what??
Does anyone have a link to the "correct" wiring of the two sockets so that I can change the 12 pin and the two Andersons on my caravan draw bar to suit these two plugs please.
I have looked everywhere on google but keep coming up with different set ups (not sure if its year specific or not)
Any help would be appreciated please as I cannot wait to take it on a trip.
    Thanks in advance everyone.
    Barry

The wiring is pretty standard for that type of plug. It's just those plugs are rarely found down under (they are the only type found in the UK)

    Hi Harry
Thanks for the speedy response. I have electric brakes on my caravan but no fog lights, could I simply cut the fog lamp wire off the rear of the socket on the Discovery 3 and use that pin for the electric brake feed or would this cause some trouble??
    Cheers for your help.

Barry, have a good read of this thread in the Sticky Thread section > D3 Electric Trailer brake wired-photo
You should find everything you need to know for lights and electric brakes.

This one is useful too > Discovery 3 LED trailer lights

Thanks to all of you for your valuable input on this matter!!!
I've decided to bit the bullet and pay an auto electrician to do the lot, its too difficult and if I make a mistake I could blow the unit too

    Thanks again

Make sure that he's experienced with the requirements for a D3, particularly related to the electric brake controller wiring.
Or at least provide a copy of the relevant details from the thread I linked earlier.
There are a couple of critical details that are not obvious to the uninitiated.

    Cheers,
