Sorry to say the rotten Blue tooth system in my D3 stopped seeing the phone after two days of working. Hard reset fixes. Cannot see a menu item to make the car connect. 2009 tech is not that old.
My replacement Disco 2009 software/hardware could not work properly with new phones. Fix located via flash upgrade to the cars hardware needed sending to a helpful chap in the UK! OR thinking outside the box at what the issue is for a simple fix
Issue is most of our phone address books in 2005-10ish had 3 fields First Name- Surname and Phone number. My current cheap android phone had First Name- Surname, nickname, Group (family, work...........), Mobile, Home, Work, fax Phone numbers, Email, IM...........
Connecting it to the car which tried and failed to import the phones phone book then saw the car connection stuff upDumbing down down the phone book seemed smarter to me. Its software on a computer. Our mobile phones are sort of computers really. No hardware removal!
Bluetooth Phonebook by android-rsap.com
It cost me less than $3 from Google play and everything now works
Only minor issue was the car could not accept all the contacts in my phone.
Phone is now working perfectly with my Discos Bluetooth. No guarantee it works with all phone types. I am culling my phone book to key people then redoing it. It all works at present but some non key details are in the car and some VIPs are not yet.
Landrover software limitation could have been easily fixed by Landrover I would add. I appreaciate they have upgarade hopes. I have a long life for me and my disco as a priorty not buying a new car to fix a minor doftware or hardware issue.

Pulling fuse 51-52 reset radio and bluetooth enabling to reconnect phone to car again. Much better than a hard rest via battery termial
Car still fails to allow connection after a few restarts. Not sure if it is the adress book transfer still being incompatable or a fault still.
The app I installed enables transfer of specific groups only. Setting a group to family and removing all fields from the 3 contact that could be the problem. Suspect the number of contacts allowed might be an issue so this might work.
I fixed a similar problem, not sure if it is exactly the same as yours but anyway...
Exported the contacts list to a '.vcf' text file then just reimported it again from the '.vcf' file.

My easy fix failed as the D3 Bluetooth unit was faulty. I brought another from a nice SA business (Triumph Rover Spares) who checked the unit they had would fit my D3, Fibre optic cables connections and unit number matched. This might be the same as in D4s or early D4s at least and some RRs I think or was told.
New unit installed and the Bluetooth connection is not dropping out with reconnection refused by the car as it had been. Yet to push the address book across. The replacement was plug and play with install taking all of five minutes. Hint to self- the UK instructions are wrong for my car. Blue tooth unit is on Drivers side!
The frustrating thing with this is the technology is easily upgradable IF Landover or the part manufacture provide a connection to reflash the unit and the new code for the unit. Its a lot like accounting software locking the freely available PAYG tax table information up to force you to buy new or subscription software. Smart business or poor customer support
