I have thought of that, realistically the weight is probably barely 120 mm further back than a caravan ball Would be, considering that the ball weight is meant to be under 350 kg, and that the whole frame with the load should be considerably lighter than that...

I cannot see any hinge mechanism. Does that mean you won’t be able to lower your tailgate?

If you look on the far left there is a stub axle, so it definitely swings, current issues are whether it will need supports when folded out, and how to lock it in place when folded out, the other concern is gvm, however, the whole rear bar is substantially lighter and stronger than I initially thought it would be, but it's really doing my head in, as I'm so fussy,
Everything is triple guessed and analysed, makes it a long job but hopefully it will be just the thing in the end,

I've told my wife we are never moving on from this series of vehicle as I can't do it again,d4 at most...
I might relay an interesting story about my family history later, explains my fussyness, that's my excuse anyway

That is a lot of weight hanging off that hitch mount without adding a wheel or fuel containers. Are those two brackets for additional mounts ?

Yep, I've drilled down through the plastic bumper after I assessed where the steel frame is underneath ,I then sleeved the holes and tapped the steel underneath with 7/16 bolts, even when everything was only tack welded it was strong enough to take me jumping up and down on it with minimal flex/movement ,I haven't had it back on since I welded it, but should be better again also having gussetted it as well, we will see..

I have ocd as well, short answer.... It's what I had, and I'm out in the bush,I did give it some thought though,I hope it doesn't play up with any of the ecu's in the car....
Although the tyres are half metric half imperial and they seem ok,

Have had to have a major rethink on the wheel carrier as I couldn't get it solid enough,
