access to front left hand door speaker (D4)

The speaker in the front LH door is intermittently cutting out. The rest of the left hand speakers are fine, including the speaker in the bottom corner of the window frame. All of which makes me assume a loose connection to that particular speaker. The fact that on one occasion it started working again after a thump on the grille was also interesting.

On inspection, it looks like the speaker grille is molded into the door panel and is not a separate unit. Is this correct or am I missing something?

Is there any way to get to the speaker without taking off the door panel?

    D4, MY12, TDV6 (base model)

    thanks

Nope. Door panel off. It’s quite easy to get the panel off. Interestingly I’m also having an odd cutting out of the left like you however I’m not yet convinced it’s the speaker. I suspect an amp or signal issue. I haven’t started investigating yet

My wife was also confident I could get the panel off. Ahh, but back on ...

Good luck with your issue. I'll let you know if I get to the bottom of mine.

I've had mine off this morning. Replaced the door check strap. Very easy but worth finding a you tube vid as there a few 'hidden' (well at least on the D3) screws. Also the top part of the panel needs to be pulled out, away from the door. Most I've done in the past get pulled up.

NB: I looked at the Disco3 site that had instructions for the check strap. Those instructions guide you to remove all the connecting stuff (electrical cables door latch ETC) so you can completely remove the panel. This is so you can get the speaker out to allow access to the check strap. This is not required. I just removed the panel/trim, left all the stuff attached, removed the speaker and was able to easily get to the check strap assembly out and back in.

    Mine too!

Ha, this is funny! Mine also cuts out intermittently (the right, front speaker)...

Keen to see if there's an easy fix. I've never tried to find out why, yet...

On my old 2011 D4 TDV6 on the drivers side would play at a lower volume than the left unless you turned it up over 14 or so. Or when banging on the speaker cover. Not my worry any more now

I’ve had panels off my RRS ( very similar) and it was easy. But- I found the how to video on YouTube which is what made it easyaccess to front left hand door speaker (D4)
