    ARB Delux bar D3 v6 petrol 2009

    Hi
    Just purchased a 2009 petrol v6 D3 SE
I looked in there catalog and it only listed the bar to fit the HSE model not SE or S
I phoned head office Vic they said correct it is not listed for the SE only HSE
So not quiet satisfied and also talking to a ARB shop about some other items I want
he said they fit the ARB deluxe bar to the SE S model all the time ???
Any advise, Air Bags, Insurance etc is there a problem ?
    Thanks in advance guys
    Cheers Chris

Don’t believe there’s much difference between the D3 and D4 in terms of chassis design and no difference between S, SE and HSE.

ive got an ARB deluxe bar on my SDV6 SE MY11 and it’s fully compliant, so don’t know why they’re saying they can’t fit an SE but will do the HSE.

im not across the ADR compliance requirements, this is just my observations.

It will probably be more to do with the location of the front mounted accessories like washer bottle.

I have ARB Deluxe winch bar on my base model D4. There is no reason at all why this bar cannot be fitted to S or SE D3. It can even be fitted to late model D4's, though many people who "think" they know better will tell you otherwise.

Mines the non-winch deluxe bar - can this be modified to become a winch bar?

I would think not as the winch bar has the extra bracing in it, the ops car is a petrol and i know from reading the US forums that there are differences in the frontal area of them but how much i'm not sure.
I would think some minor mods would allow one to fit.

    Thanks

    Hi
Thanks, I have ordered theARB Bar, I had found there were 2 other choices ECB and OL
I have had a ARB bar before on a Land Cruiser and will stick with that
I dont want or need a winch to much additional weight so just just the standard deluxe bar

    Thanks Guys

Go in and ask at ARB. Pretty sure that the only difference between the winch and non-winch Deluxe bar is a cradle and some bracing. It is possible that ARB might be able to supply you the cradle and either install it for you or you can have any decent boilermaker weld it into position. The only drawback I could see with doing this is that you would need to get the powder coating re-done.

From memory, there is not a huge price difference between winch / non-winch. I bought mine at ARB in Osborne Park and they installed it for me. Even though I still have never installed a winch, I opted for the winch bar "just in case" I wanted to put a winch in later on - and the additional cost was little enough in my opinion to make it worthwhile.

The cradle isn't a separate item so can't be sourced on its own.

Thanks that what I thought, you have to choose between a winch and non-winch barwhen you buy it. I bought the car as second owner with the bar already fitted, so no chance for me to choose. The other option would be to sell the existing bar off the car and buy a new winch bar.

TBH in the last 100K kms, I’ve not needed a winch, so it’s unlikely I’ll go down that route. If it was an easy retrofit like just getting the cradle and the winch, then I would consider it further.

(Apologies to the OP for hijacking the thread a little)
