Hi Guys,
Had my D4 ( 64,000km ) in for service the other day at an authorised LR dealer - the day before it ran out of the 3 year factory warranty ( do have the extended 2 year insurance warranty as well ) . The vehicle has been operating perfectly - including starting.
So I get a phone call from the dealer. Mr ***********, the battery in your vehicle has failed the load test - so we will replace under warranty. Mmmmmm ok Mr ******* you have a knock in front end and front bushes are cracked. We will need vehicle overnight to replace bushes and wheel alignment under warranty. Another Mmmmmm ok
1. Unusual to have such a helpful dealer LR ! ( included in D5 loan car for 2 days )
2. I thought batteries were a wear and tear item - not warrantable.
3 My vehicle has only done 63,000 km with minimal serious off road driving. Does have steel bulbar and winch thou. I know this is a common fault with this model but thought this type of bush failure a bit early ?

SubscriberPretty similar experience for me I had the extended 3yr warranty and 4 days before that expired, and at 172,000 km, the primary turbo actuator failed. Full turbo replacement including lower intercooler hose and air control valve, $10,000 worth of work all covered under warranty. AND done 3 days before Christmas.
Didn't get a loan car though, but that doesn't worry me.

Batteries are a warranty item. Many of us on here have had batteries replaced under warranty, me at least twice.
LCAs are also a warranty item, depending on kms. Others have had theirs replaced under warranty at 30,000km, but mine were refused at 100,000km.

SubscriberMmmmmm, interesting, I had my front LCAs replaced with LR genuine at the dealer at 124,000km at my cost. Vehicles now done 188000km, so 64,000 km on the set, and the rattle is back, wonder if that’s covered under a replacement warranty....Originally Posted by cjc_td5

LR have always had a three year warranty on the starting battery.
Unlike many other brands.

SubscriberSeems a reasonable life actually compared to reports in here over many years.
You see a few earlier than this and some longer but it seems quite a lot last 60-80k.
Obviously heavily dependent on usage and load.

Very dependent on the dealer though. Mine had deteriorated by 90K at 2yo to requiring a battery charger every couple of days and needed a jump-start the morning of a 6 hour drive to the dealer. The dealer stuck if on a charger because it was down but refused to replace it under warranty. I had to buy a new battery 1 week later.

Mmmmmmmmmmm…………………….. Sounds like I was lucky 2 fold. One the dealer did a load test on the battery whilst in warranty as part of the service and 2 agreed to replace the battery under warranty - no augment. And the service LR dealer was not the selling dealer.

With regards to the bushes, there is the extra weight of steel bulbar and winch at the front to cope with. I have done moderate amount of 4WD but not like every weekend. Also once again LR service dealer was helpful finding the "cracked" bushes at the service , as they weren't the selling dealer.
Doesn't make me feel so grouchy about the high cost of the service $1,300

SubscriberIf It is the front LCAs again, I will replace with the Mehle solid rubber bushes this time round, available from Advanced Factors UK, as opposed to the hydrobushes used in the LR genuine units.
