    Park Brake Discovery 3 v6 petrol 2009

    Hi
I was driving home today and all the sudden the Brake Light starting flashing and the yellow warning light came on solid (not flashing)
When I arrived home the park brake would not activate, I checked the fuse No 41 5amp and it was fine. I put a diagnostic tool on but didn't help
Any clues, could it be the switch under the brake peddle ?
    Thanks if anyone knows
I did have a look at past messages but only found hand brakes that would not release, that is not he case here
    Regards Chris

I would say it needs to be serviced/adjusted and currently is too far out of adjustment to operate.

    Hi

Yes seems to be fine now, although I didn't do much, I just gave the wires a wiggle and came good straight away
I guess I should pull the plug out and clean up the contacts
    THANKS
    Cheers Chris

I'd throw a new switch in, they are cheapish , apparently one from the ford dealer is better value or ebay. They are apparently known to cause problems.

I doubt its the brake pedal switch but for $25 from ford its worth a shot.

More likely the handbrake switch in the centre console known to fail.
