    Transmission Drain Plug

So, done a bit of the googles and everywhere else I’ve read states that the Transmission Drain Plug sits nicely between the X-Member and Exhaust Pipe.

Took a look this evening and I’ve got this...

Is someone having a laugh or is it a X-Member off job after all.

Nothing wants to fit under there that I’ve got.

    4.0 V6.

Yeah it’s a bit odd hey haha, can access everything else fine though so I guess that’s a plus.

Sorry confused - the Title and OP says TRANSMISSION drain plug - yet discussion seems to be around engine sump drain plug - what is it? the engine sump plug on the TDV6 and the sump plug on the transmission are pretty obvious.

Garry, I’m talking about the transmission drain plug. Here’s a view from a different angle...

I think lonerangie was checking to see if the model is similar to his? My mate with the V8 has his transmission drain plug smack bang between the cross member and cat pipes as well.

Yeah the crossover pipe had me thinking it was a petrol engine.

3.0L diesel has the same crossover pipe, but the transmission drain plug can be accessed well clear of the x member.

I'd say the chassis design is the same, the 4.0l engine is longer, pushing the transmission backwards. No issue to remove the x member though, 4 bolts and its done, just gotta support the transfer case

Cheers Eric, even with the transmission jacked from the rear I’m still having issues.

Just trying to make things easier as my current driveway isint back friendly.

Just a thought... since I’m swapping to a steel pan anyways, could just siphon from the fill plug. Or if I’m feeling ballsy enough, could just drill holes in the deepest part. Thoughts anyone?
