I'm thinking that way too, especially since Yokohama isn't doing any deals this month. Let me know if you get some, looks just to be over $1000 fitted through tyresales.

I replaced my original cross contacts with BFG KO2s last year. Have done almost 50,000km on them and really happy. Importantly wife is happy too and seem very quiet (to us at least in my 2014 Defender).

We use on on highway but also a lot on gravel and through our farm - some of which is very hilly, rocky and boggy! The BFGs power through everything.

Highly recommend and hope my next set is as good.

Just waiting on my new rims to arrive then I think I’ll try out the pirelli ATR + and let the group know what it’s like

i happened to notice the new Mercedes 4wd Ute has them from the factory and figured they mustn’t be too loud if Mercedes are willing to put them on a brand new test drive car

tempted to go and test drive the car just for this purpose

Or you could go back to 16’s,then there are quite a few options.

I am guessing a set of OEM rims that size would be easy to source and reasonably cheap.

    Are your 18’s OEM wheels?

Just asking because they were not that common, fitted to a few models and the run out ‘Town’ Classics.

Actually have a set of both OE rims Paul. The 18's are genuine Hurricanes, they look sexy.
I was going to mount some aggressive AT's on the 16's, eg Dura Tracs for big trips and milder AT's like Michelins LTX Force on the 18's for 'local' trips in the National Parks around here and normal use, but I'm loving the way the 18's with Pirelli Verde's behave on the blacktop.
Did I mention they look sexy?

    Tyre noise changes

Just remember that worn tyres get very noisy. New tyres are quiet. All of them most likely (of a type ie AT tyres).

The real question is how noisy are they at 40K mileage? And like frogs in a saucepan on the stove, the increase in noise is so gradual it creeps up on us pretty much un-noticed.
