I have learnt the hard way to apply it carefully to only the painted parts of the mirror body.
There's too many crevices and gaps making it hard to remove from non-painted surfaces, although the tip from Tankmat posted above may help with this.

    Cheers,

Only needs to be clean and not applied in full sun when the surface would be really hot.

I use road warrior plus which I believe is a similar to paint shield. The manufacturers say applying a wax polish before hand is preferred but not necessary. I presume because this will will aid removal at a later date. I do put it on the wing mirrors and use several coats. It still gets a bit stuck in all the little grooves of the wing mirror but can be removed with a bit of extra effort. I found it much much harder to remove it from the type of plastic used in my window wind/rain deflectors but I hadn’t waxed them at the time when I last applied it as they were new.

Thanks Mogg. Sounds like I should keep it off all the black stuff and be careful on the mirrors. Cheers

It comes off the black between the windows ok and off the rubber in that area too. I don’t put it on the black plastic lower down on the car but I think it’s still worth putting it on the wing mirrors because they are more in the firing line.

What about older, not looked after as much paint.

I have an 05 and the paint was average at best when I got it.

I have 3 x 1L of road warrior plus I'm not using anymore. You can pick them up for $20 for the lot if you like.
