    Patriot Camper dual cab D4

    hi all,

Been addicted to the patriot camper builds on youtube, called pcor (patriot camper off road) where they chop LC200, RAM, fords and fit their own tray and then a camper on top with an extended chassis.

Hypothetically what would it take to do the same to a D4 platform, chop behind rear doors, move rear axle back, extend the wheel base, fit tray and camper and turn into a 4 door D4 dual cab and tray with roof top tent on top of the camper. Tray costs $15k, camper $5 then would need engineering approval, labour costs etc.

You would loose the rear tailgate, spare tyre gets relocated to the rear of the tray so no more winch problems, frees up room for larger tank, not sure how long it would get in length but would make for a great tourer.

You would need a late model D4 with rear end damage and could work out nicely but costly. thoughts...
Will try to mock up a pic for reference...

While your at it put in the TDV8?

Suspension could be an issue as they normally raise the cars due to the decreased break-over and departure angles. Would be awesome though

Cut and shut the chassis to extend it so no modification to rear suspension needed. I think your biggest issue would be potential re calibration of the DSC etc and how you could get this engineered?

This D3 ute conversion was for sale in Albany, WA a year or two ago. Not the best looking, but I'm sure there are other converted D3/4's out there that could give you some ideas.

This one below is from the Dunsfold Collection, but was never roadworthy.

Both of these probably didn't require playing around too much with the electronics though.

There’s a lot hanging out there behind the rear axel. Wouldn’t be surprised if one day you turned around and it was no longer there.

Maybe wait wait for the new defender. Me thinks landrover are way ahead of you judging by the “D4” looking spy pics.

I need three rows of seats so would want to extend it past the current length.
