Thread: XLifter vs Llams

Llams to me is sort of like having a winch. You only need to use it occasionally, but gee! it's handy when you need it. I wouldn't go bush without a winch and I feel the same about Llams although it's also handy around town. XLifter looks good, but I suspect you'd be tempted to play with it a bit too much, although the self-levelling feature looks neat. The nice thing about Llams is it's hidden until you need it.

It depends on whether the extra control is worth it for you. Generally the llams presets are enough and i cant think of a specific situation where that finer control would be required. The self levelling feature is the most appealing extra to me, even id i wouldnt use it all the time.

Llams is a very factory looking install and has some features beyond just changing the height of your vehicle.

Let us know which way you go.

I use llams a fair bit, especially when hooking and unhooking trailers etc. also due to a bad back, it makes life easy to dump it on its guts to get in and out.
I think for the sake of getting out and putting a lump of wood if needed under a wheel is a whole lot cheaper than a self levelling tool. If I had RTT, then perhaps I might think about it.

I have not heard of them and have Llams installed. To turn the question around, if you pay $300 more (and it does what it says it does) will you be getting the benefit you want out of it?

I have a Nanocom and Llams - if I was starting again I would get the IID Tool as one thing does both and has Bluetooth connectivity. However, to each his own and happy researching.

My first thought was that this setup would be great when you have a rooftop tent. You can be less concerned about the ground not being completely level as the car can sort out any discrepancies.

I can't see $300 worth of benefits with this Xlifter device unless you plan on camping on the side of a hill every time you go away

I have had my LLAMS for over 8yrs now and it's been great, and the best part is Graeme the owner and maker of the LLAMS device, great after sales service and a bloody nice bloke too, and you are supporting local business.

The D4 does self level itself to a point anyway.

Never had Llams, but +1 on Graeme - top bloke.

I had a half-hearted attempt at making the vehicle lean left or right to lean away from a wall or embankment but couldn't get the suspension to move.
