What a pain. Might have to angle grind it off. May need to replace it with a rivnut or something similar.
I have a GOE compressor plate and I need to remove it but one of the bolts on the side spins and I presume the captive nut has worked loose. I've tried a lever under the bolt to create compression but it still spins (nut rusted on to bolt most likely). Is there any other way into the nut?

I'd be trying a good quality penetrating oil like liquid wrench which is designed to loosen rusted fasteners... spray on, go for a cup of tea, come back and spray some more, then try the screwdriver trick again... otherwise you'll most likely be cutting it off.
