LR4 2.7lt fuel temp sensor fault message

Hi all the other day I had the restricted performance message and triangle come up on the dash, now there was no noticeable difference in driving but I pulled over and switched off the car for a few minutes then drove off and all good. Got a scan reading saying intermittent: fuel temperature sensor fault. So has anyone had a similar problem and what did they do? Costs to replace ?BE5516B0-19A7-4B48-AE14-5D14A5EEE7D4.jpg Thanks in advance

I have not had this issue. Assuming it's a diesel 2.7, there is a fuel cooler mounted forward and underneath the engine, perhaps the sensor here has a dodgy connection or the sensor has failed. As far as I know cooling is via the coolant circuit, so perhaps check the coolant level and if more than 8 years old, change the coolant.

Sensor is pre-fuel cooler. The sensor sits at the junction where all the spill lines return from the injectors. Those lines join the return from the HPFP and *that* goes through the cooler.

    Hi Bru

I have a very similar problem with my 2013 D4 3.0 SDV6. Has been occurring for several months. I get the restricted performance message and triangle and I notice no difference in performance. It tends to occur more often after I fill with fuel. If I turn off the engine and wait till the display turns off it will often clear. I have not worried to much as it is intermittent, does not appear to cause any problem, and was waiting till my next service which is on Tuesday.

Hence tonight when it occurred I connected the RoverCom IQ and the errors were P0195 "Engine oil temperature sensor circuit" and P2264 "Water in fuel sensor circuit.".

Mike. Did you check the trigger times of your errors? I’m getting regular restricted performance from water in fuel errors. It’s winter and my disco hates winter. Does it every year. Stupid thing.

Mine did this in Summer also. Though tonight it occurred and it didn't clear at all and it's bloody cold tonight. Blowing a gale and 4C temperature at Kandos and error came up and stayed on all the way to Sydney. So DiscoJeffster might be right there about temperature.

I suppose that Bru's "Restricted Performance" and mine can be from different faults, whats common is its fuel / fuel sensor related. Nice to know though that others get the same error :-)

The water in fuel fault (obviously if the check for actual water In fuel is performed..) is usually down to the fuel filter head/ bracket assembly. The contact and circuit are non repairable and any issues with resistance being out of whack with normal parameters will give the warning triangle of annoyance....

    Hay Mike
As you say glad I’m not the only person getting this fault pop up.
Interested to hear what the mechanic has to say, keep us posted.
Thanks to all for the input.
