Did the rep happen to mention other sizes too, such as 255/60R19 for the L405/L494/L462?

I’ve had the ATR+ for about three months and love them! Dead silent.

Good if you never want to visit the snowfields!

You won’t fit chains with that size on.

What is the largest size tyre that still allows chains to fit?
Is this a restriction on the size of chains available? or the combination of the larger tyre + chains will no longer fit in the guard/rubs on turns etc?

    Autotecnica list a CA490 chain to suit a 285/60 18 and 285/65 18:
    Snow Chains AutoFit

Autotecnica stuff is sold by SuperCheap, Repco, et al.

My 285 60 18s just fit and if suspension is lowered tyres will just touch the inner mudguard stuff above the wheels. Can't speak for the later D4s if they are any different.

    Right. Thanks for that.

    If 286 60 18's just fit on their own - and scrape when the suspension is down;
Certainly won't be able to add chains then...

At that width the chains will also take the harness apart in the wheel arch!

Now - Only for the record:

From a certain point - the wider you go the more rolling resistance you offer and the vehicle works harder, on bitumen the fuel use will increase for a given tyre type (AT/MT etc).

Legally the diameter increase is ok. Sub 50mm.

Legally the tyre is non-compliant. Any tyres fitted to a vehicle must not make contact with *any* part of the vehicle through its entire range of motion.

Practically - any tyre that contacts when the vehicle is dropped will, should a bag fail or compressor fail render the vehicle immobile.

Potentially - if a bag fails catastrophically at speed (potential increases as the vehicles age) it has the potential to spear the vehicle into oncoming traffic/off the road/throw it into an unrecoverable slide etc.

This isn’t something I’m comfortable with (my choice).

Plenty of choices in 18" now. Just stumbled across these in the warehouse. 10 ply 80 PSI light trucks with a 122 load rating in 265 65R18 Most likely much cheaper than a BFG.
