Split drivers side manifold last week, car at 204000km. No pops, bangs or explosions, just fault code and tell tale oil line on the underside of engine cover. Had both replaced, 8h labour and parts including new inlet o ring seals and all gaskets, a shade ove 2k drive in and out. The drivers side one was split vertically from where it meets the head to middle top edge of the manifold, about 100mm long.
After many hours on Google, re-reading posts here, and stopping Disco owners in the street to ask if they liked their tyres (they must have thought I was loony, oh well, quite probably am) I finally bit the bullet and had 4 Goodyear Wrangler Duratec 255/55R19 tyres fitted today @ $345.00 each incl fitting & balancing.
My main concern was that they'd be noisy, however after test driving approx 60 klms after fitment I must say I am pleasantly surprised.
Not noisy at all, and handling feels great.
FYI, I'd read that the new Toyo Open Country AT3 was the duck's guts and getting impressive reviews in the USA as it is a relatively new release and is updated/improved from the AT2 (which I had on an MY17 Isuzu Mux and was impressed) .
I tried to get the AT3 however the local dealer didn't know they existed and I had to convince him to go into Google to confirm!
He made a few phone calls but couldn't confirm an Aus release date, for 19" anyway.
He also made an interesting remark that Amarok owners will be pleased when the 19" AT3 finally becomes available.
I pricked up my ears as I recalled another thread here a few months ago and discussion whether in fact Amaroks had 19" wheels.
So it was the Wranglers that won out as I wanted an AT to replace the bland bitumen only Kapson tyres the previous owner had fitted.
'tis early days but the Wranglers are looking good and they get great U-tube reviews in the USA.
Thats cheap for Duratracs, sounds like you got a good deal. Last time I looked Duratracs were over $540 each. What load and speed rating, as I recall there are a few options?
The bar is a genuine LR bar that I powder coated in Matt Black. The LAND ROVER sticker came with it. They just stick on with the double sided tape and come with a guide so you get it straight.
I’ve seen such a sticker for sale on the wall at TRS, but I’m not game to ask them how much it would cost!
Got new Gen 2 Tuffant Steelies finally delivered, and then shod with 265/60/18 Mickey Thompson Deegan 38 All Terrains!
