you've ever towed
for me was3800kg Sydney to Sunshine Coast, some in heavy rain and the hire trailer brakes did not work, pulling up a long climb on the inland-ish route the aftermarket alarm screamed at 109c, pulled over the road train drivers waving as they passed, as I'd just a few mns prior had pulled past them, 5 mns engine idling, temp back to normal, car rock steady in rain coming down Cunninghams gap
Cunninghams Gap - Wikipedia
Someone I know who recently bought a D3 was doing some work on their property last weekend. They told me they had a bunch of firewood on a large trailer to take from one end of the property to the other. Judging off previous smaller loads, he estimated the loaded trailer weight to be close to 5-5 to 6 tons. He said the D3 did it pretty easily. I thought that was a pretty good effort.
I replaced the gas struts on the rear tailgate of my D3.
I now have a bruise under my chin to prove that they work better than the original 2006 Land Rover struts!!!!!
Hit by the dreaded tailgate release failure. And yes, the cargo barrier is up, the drawers (with most of the tools) are in and the fridge is full. Am outside of Alice Springs with very limited internet. Trying to search for solutions here, but difficult with speed of data. Assuming that I can get into the door, with as little angle grinding of cargo barrier and drawers as possible, can someone please point me in the direction of where I need to hack into the rear panel? The only instructions that I have found on here assume that you can get the door open to put in the fix -yes, I should have done that! I am assuming that I won’t be able to get the door open and will need to take to the inner skin to get access to the mechanism. If there is someone in Alice Springs who has done this before, would also appreciate the opportunity for some on the spot advice. Thanks very much in anticipation. Yours in hopeful anticipation, Hawc
I pulled a 3.2T van with our loaded D4,up the old Toowoomba range, that was a slog.
No worries,outside temp was 12 degrees,which helped.
That new road up the range is an absolute cracker, loaded, without towing, just set CC on the speed limit of 90Km/hr and leave it.Ours was a 6 speed,it just sat in 5th and cruised up and over.
FWIW,i hitch the empty work trailer up the the work van,and it feels like someone has thrown out the anchor[bigsad]
Hawc, it is unusual for this to happen without warming of impending failure, like only half unlatching for some time. It could be that your battery is not fully charged. Before going for the angle grinder, make sure your battery is fully charged and try again using the key fob button. Note that the cable fix still will not work if the latch doesn't open, it only works for a broken cable.
