News to me. I use nulon super dot 4 with no issues at all. When I rebuilt the caliper front and rear (new piston seal sets, brake lines, rda rotors and akebono pads, just drained the system and then did a full flush, starting at left rear. Had one of the kids pump the pedal for me, old school bleed style. Brake pedal is as firm as its always been, brake performance is excellent. Will try the penrite 5.1 next flush in Dec 22.

From the LR Workshop manual. While Penrite 5.1 is Class 6 it doesn’t say it meets the LRES22BF03 spec.

I’m glad we flushed that topic out, so to speak. Yes, I last used DOT 5.1 but not Class 6 and all works ok but not the extra 1% at sub zero temps the traction control needs.

5.1 is available in the stores but the special Class 6 stuff was from the dealer only last I checked.

Yeah. I’m one of those sticklers though. Now I know I haven’t used the right stuff (previously only using the factory stuff), I’ll never get it out of my head. This time though I’ll only pull a litre through to flush it. I’m ordering front uppers next month so I’ll throw in a bottle of LR fluid then.

Its been a few years since I bought the correct brake fluid from the dealer but at the time it was actually cheaper than the nearest grade fluid from the retail stores.

Penrite Super 4 meets the ISO spec which the LR spec is aligned to.

Primarily focused on viscosity to ensure ABS functions ‘flow’ correctly.

Compare it to the factory offering if you wish:

I recently worked on my 2012 Disco 4's R/H EGR valve. When it was all back together I found a pipe connection on the intake box, between a sensor and the MAF sensors can anyone enlighten me as to what goes on this outlet.

Quick oil change and pressure readings.. It's in the other thread. While I was there I swapped the mafs over as I'm getting soot out the pipe these days.
One was visibly different to the other. Kinda burnt looking. I'll order two and a map sensor and keep the good one as a spare. First drives were much nicer.. couldn't see any soot. Still due for injectors. But every other bit helps.

Brake peddle is a bit shuddery like when the rear bushes were no good. Never ever had a shudder before the akebono pads. I'll keep the pads and check the rotors. Probably just a coincidence. The hard stops seems to sort it for a while. Probably time to pop the calipers off for a service.

A vacuum line. There should be a hard plastic line with a special connector that plugs in.
