Rear tailgate release cable
Pre-emptively installed a release cable attached to the lock mechanism for the rear top tailgate. Just in case the actuator fails which would be a right pain given that the back of the D4 is fitted out with drawers and fridge that would prevent me from peeling off the inner lining to try to manually open. Followed the guide provided by James and Scott previously....worked a treat :-) Hopefully will never need it but good to have a backup.

Hi John, I followed the detail provided by James (sctsprin) and Scott (LRD414) on page 6 of this informative post Manual tailgate release D3. Scott has produced a very informative PDF guide that is attached at the bottom of his post. There are a variety of approaches that have been used to mitigate the risk of being locked out of your D4 rear compartment when you have the space packed with drawers etc behind a cargo barrier. I like this particular solution because it takes the actuator and connecting cable completely out of the equation... and I have ordered a spare actuator just in case it fails when we are out bush... as the bypass cable is only a make shift release mechanism, and not something you would want to have to rely upon for too long. Swapping out the actuator looks to be pretty straight forward if you had to :-)
Cheers

Akebono pads front and rear plus new RDA rotors on the rear
Fitted Akebono pads front and rear plus replaced the rear rotors with RDA. All feels same as original so far.
Bought pads from RockAuto in the US. Pretty quick and very well priced. Also took the excellent tip (DiscoJeffster I think) to buy wiper blades at the same time. SO cheap
Going off to post a few questions about trolley jacks now. Would have made the job a bit easier

What happened to your D3/D4 today?
Fasteners arrived so I finished bolting in my fridge mount and installing fridge for a trip to Yunta this weekend.
