Got the restricted performance error for the first time in the D4.
Of course I didn't have the Nanocom with me. Called by Indie for diagnosis and cracked driver side intake manifold.
Left the car with them as happily they can start on it this week.
Will get them to do the coolant block thingy as well as it is the original.
Deciding whether to do both manifolds as planning on doing some serious towing and remote travel in the next 2 years.
Definitely do both, the other side will split. especially towing.
Depending on K's it would also pay to do all belts and tensioners, alternator, possibly air struts and desiccant as well as driveline oils including auto if not already done.
Carry spare fuel filter and brake switch at the minimum
obviously there's more potential problem areas but the above are the most common show stoppers for D3/4 owners here on Holidays
print out a copy of this if you haven't already

I'd also advise taking out top cover for recovery.
Did a wheel swap which included washing brake dust off the fronts. I also inserted new centre caps that someone gave me a couple of years ago. New Akebono pads ordered for the front for the next service at the end of January too.

How do you like the Duelers? Tossing up between them and Open Countries next time
Well um er spotted!!! Have had Duelers on it since I got it 7 years and 135K ago. I'm more than happy with them. They never feel uncertain on the black stuff during tropical downpours. Happy with the performance on dirt roads too.
I note that in recent times many have gone away from them as they are 'noisy'- something I have never experienced. I find the wind noise from the snorkel outside the driver's window is louder than whatever the tyres throw up.
That said, I am thinking of changing to Maxxis when these need replacing but only due to Bridgestone being in town (I'm not a fan of the particular business) and Maxxis are available locally at Humpty Doo.
