I replied "No worries, you can use the aftermarket clips, because when they fail I'll bring it back and you guys will have to cover the clips and trim under warranty anyway".

Response : "I'll cancel that appointment and get back to you after we get an ETA on genuine clips".
Arrgh, they make me so frustrated.
I found the one good branch in SA.
Genuine Heated screen, genuine fitting pack (clips, seals etc)

Previous attempt by the closer branch was a disaster - aftermarket screen was loud, hot and no heater. Leaked after a few months, trims weren’t fitted correctly.

Thank goodness for the other branch when I raised a warranty issue.

Good luck, keep and eye on them!

I had probs. some couple of years back when some mob in Malaga WA replaced the screen. They just ripped the side trims off from top to bottom with no regard at all for any damage they may have done. And they did. Passenger side trim likes to pop off when we're driving and is only held in place at the bottom.
They showed no interest so I fixed it with new clips etc.
I went to O'Briens for the next one (2 new screens in 2 years!!!) and they were a bit but not much better as one wiper fell off on the freeway during a downpour as the bolt holding it hadn't been tightened properly..... again luck held it in place and I was able to retighten it.
Bloody morons doing a low level skills job and can't even get that right.

Nothing stands out like that in my D4 so the mystery continues

O'Briens called today to confirm they now had the genuine clips, so it's booked in next Wednesday. Just in the nick of time. Another crack popped up. This one across the passenger side to the top. Still out of my sight line but it catches the sun.

I filled the original cracks with a DIY kit from Repco. Best $25 I reckon I've ever spent. It just made the crack virtually invisible and it stopped it spreading dead in its tracks. Got me through the last 8 weeks nicely. If I'd properly filled the massive stone chip (which was in the middle in the area of the rain sensor) I reckon the second crack wouldn't have popped up.

An update on my journey with my D4.

Mitch Hitch fitted. Bit of a struggle with the bush fitting. Trailer wiring sorted into 12 pin plug. Much easier with the bumper removed. Didn’t take as long as I would have thought. Still looking to fit brackets to hold the trailer plug and new Anderson connector. Anderson still to be wired into rear fuse block. Need to trim the close out panel for when not towing.

As for new trailer addition to the family, wiring review underway. LED indicator resistors fitted. What a pain until I realised a single resistor would do the trick. Almost there. May even share some photos when tidied up. Full rejig of battery connections etc in work.

Final update. My trailer came with a bucket load of kit from the previous owner. Full credit to Ampfibian. Raised a quality concern with them over one of their products and they were all over it and called me to investigate. Even sent me a prepaid bag to return the item to them for review. I didn’t even buy the item but they offered a replacement. Great customer care. Safety first credit to them.

Left car in street for two days

Left the 2014 Disco outside my Brighton house for maybe three nights.

Then put it back where it belongs. I don't use it around town - unless there is nothing else available. Then about a week later, I saw massive cracks on the windscreen. I reckon someone must have hit it with a hammer or something. Nothing else seems to have happened. I do have windscreen insurance.

    The End Draws Near

Polished and waxed it as part of preparation for sale.
We will get another 4wd in a few year's time when we are about to retire.

Mine is undergoing the same pre-sale treatment. Much fussing about doing little things and refitting stuff like the cargo cover and tie-downs which we never used. Took me a while to work out where the cover fitted. I'm having 2 new tyres fitted and may have it serviced although it's not long had its umpteenth oil/filter change in 138K.

Roof rack went back on today too. Mine has a service booked and I need to tidy inside again as it's been used a bit since I did it last. Sheepskin seat covers have been washed. I may put them back on tomorrow.
