Pat would argue (and I really shouldn't be putting words in his mouth) that the issue with the TDV6 is block shift due to lack of seasoning. Whether this is due to one or two batches or to different manufacturers or whatever is unknown (at least to us, JLR and Ford will know exactly what the cause is), but the known failures of even new engines tends to indicate that the block shift hypothesis is plausible.
