Had the D4 for 8 years next month, wow has that gone quick!
For a guy off-roading a lot you’d think it would be fully decked out already
Anyway, bring it was leased I never really bothered as it did everything almost out of the box for 5 years, then a redundancy slowed progress whilst I considered it’s future. Well it’s future is as a keeper; so onto the build.
Today was a “point of no return” type of project.
Drilled out the upper holes for the Prospeed Light bar
Then 5 of the toughest holes to drill out there! Snorkel bracket.
Cut the trim panels to accomodate the bracket and the roof bar
Then fitted that all back on.
Now it’s panel holes and cuts
It’s now started raining so will take a break.
Tombie, did you use Cobalt bits for those A-pillar holes? How many ? Any advice ?
I have a snorkel fitment in my plans so you've prompted me to pull my finger out.. First though I'm going to modify an LR RAI so that I have the snout to fit the hose to the airbox - a bit of polyethylene welding which is going to test me! It will be a hybrid of the two.

Hi David
Destroyed 3 Cobalt bits.... in the end it was doing my head in so went with Impact Bits in an impact driver - destroyed 2 in short order but did the holes quicker.
Use imperial 3/16” impact bits to punch the holes and tidy with the 5mm Cobalts.
Just allow 5 impact bits!
