You can see the alignment issue in the photo.

You mean tie rods as steering arms? I ordered a set of trw but turns out no movement at all in mine. Just the column. So there on the shelf now. I would just change at home and measure the arm length.. we used to always do that on buses and then take to wheel alignment shop when we could..

I'm on Bosch euro pads today. I went round and did the gap tool brake bleeding with my son.. It failed everytime, at the third wheel the ABS pump would start screaming and the pedal was rock hard. Anyway after 3 attempts the pedal feels heaps better and the bite is better too.. Not bagging the akebono pads in any way. But they kept developing a shudder that the LR pads never did.
Aftermarket things can be so hit or miss. Did you go genuine in the end?

On another note, today I noticed the AC was going warm when I was stationary. I already suspect the pump is EOL, but could this be an indication the fan is getting tired? It’s had a good innings, but not sure if these get slower or just fail.

The IID can look at all the fan parameters, and also the AC high side pressure. Diagnostics grasshopper.

I think I'm past the point in life where I can tolerate the refit and fight the retailer game, they are in UK. I told them refund it.. And use the money towards a genuine shaft. I'm awaiting their reply as I had to send them photos of the two shafts.

I'm really good at changing them quickly now.

To see if it's the fan, check pressures. If pressures get up and fan isn't singing. Turn off the engine and quickly grab the fan.. Should be firm like a normal viscous fan.

We were joking at work last week. I used to drive with one wheel off the road in the gravel
to shake the compressor into life.

Your compressor has been sad a very long time now, I think I did one summer with mine and that was that.

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

With the Optima dead; time to fit a new Aux battery.
Some earlier comments re the SSB HVT-70LD (an 85AH aux battery) influenced my choice. (Thanks to whomever posted)

For those interested…it is tight, but doable.

Move some of the unused plugs out of the way…ensure your battery tray will take a slightly longer battery and it’s ok

    Red circles:
Both just, and I mean just, touch the power steering bottle and under the bonnet insulation.
There is enough “give” in the power steering / washer bottle brackets to not worry me at the moment. The under bonnet insulation also doesn’t worry me now.

    But height is ok

2 Bluetooth battery monitors installed and I’m now a battery monitoring OCD nut….

    Happy days

    Replaced brake pedal switch

Replaced the brake pedal switch today. Hoping that was the cause for my rotary gear selector not wanting to turn out of Park...

Otherwise some more fun to be had... hmm

Changed out the front CV driveshaft's in my D3, LHS inner joint was worn leading to vibration under load. Replaced with Repco branded shafts and I was surprised to see the outer CV bell is substantially larger than the originals. Got them at 20% discount on sale so they where basically the same price as cheapys from the UK

How did you diagnose it, can I ask?
