Scanned for faults... nada (probably shouldn't to that while driving but it's become a bit of a reflex). Got home, put it to sleep and when it woke back up it was all working again.

What happened to your D3/D4 today?

Part of shutting down is low voltage, so if during start a low v is detected some systems may turn off.

The audio is one of the first to start shutdown

Restart - usually with surface charge on battery give an OK and you’re good to go…

The other question - which firmware are you on for those modules?

    Restricted Performance

So twice on the way home from school pickup the D4 2.7 went into restricted performance mode with gearbox fault. Restricted performance shoud really mean no performance as on the highway essentially you steadily slow to nothing as there is no accelerator. 1st time was heading over teh maroochy river bridge so had to limp over the top to get to a safe space to pull over.

Managed both times to pull over on the side of the highway, turn the car off then back and continue. I'll get a scan tool tomorrow and see whats cooking.

Dependent on the scan tool you get, you may be none the wiser.

According to the GAP list the Audio system is the latest and the amplifier firmware is "Newer than reflash database".
I suspect it wasn't voltage related because in the D3 it doesn't shut down the amp, it restricts the maximum volume level until the voltage comes back up.
This was absolutely silent until rebooted.

    Just another Disco-glitch.

Welcome to the club I’m in this camp although been 4-5 weeks now since last occurrence which was reasonably regular after the first time.

I suspect and bet you’ll get the low fuel pressure code P0087 or P2290 indicating a possible (probable) hpfp on the way out.

I changed the fuel filter and checked the low pressure fuel pump was AOK so maybe it’s hanging in there we’ll see but agree the options are limited when it faults.

This is a reasonably common fail item and maybe inevitable on any common rail diesel. Pump is Siemens VDO so can’t blame LR 100%.

Cheers Mate. Tried a cheap scan tool and it found nothing so might get the Gap tool although a little expensive. Hard to know if icarsoft or similar are worth the cheaper price but British Offroad is not far away so will pop in Monday.

Fuel filter was one thing is saw so will do that Monday. Not bad really for a 2010 D4 with 298,000 on the clock.
