2011 D4? The one you said was stolen & recovered in previous posts?
Thank you very much Cambo.
I am very grateful for this information.
Yes it is the 2011 (late 2010 build) D4 that was stolen last Dec, just after we bought it.
I'm on the Gold Coast, so I am trying to think of the best way forward with this.
Can I diagnose the Steering Column Lock, faulty IAU or RF receiver myself without special equipment?
Reprogramming keys when all keys are lost - do you know a way I can try to do this myself (e.g. get a GAP IID or something else - but I have heard that GAP IID cannot sync keys when all keys are lost (is that right? Is there another tool or way to programme the keys/fob to the the KVM?

It does not need a new BCM or even a new KVM to program keys, even if all the existing keys are lost.
However it's very common for external issues to prevent the key programming from completing when using the dealer tool (SDD); a non-responsive steering column lock (which is a common enough problem), faulty IAU (sensor under the column to detect keys for emergency start) and also the RF receiver up in the roof (faults in the receiver or the wiring to it).
And in these cases someone not so familiar with how the whole keys/immobiliser system will assume it's the BCM or the KVM at fault.
In the last few months we resurrected several D4 & RRS which had sat around for months, because of similar situations (no key functions), and basically it was incorrect diagnosis in all of them. And we sorted it out and they drove the cars away.
