No spares, in shed (no shed). What I took off the car that I wasn't keeping has already found a new home.

I will have a Nanacom up for sale, as soon as I find all the cables. Moved house a couple of months ago, still finding stuff.
There is no eraser on the pencil of life.

Now - Not a Land Rover (2018 Dmax)
    Was - 2008 D3 SE 4.0l V6
    Was - 2000 D2 TD5 with much fruit.

Wouldn't call it an abonination, just different.

Have a nice clean, low(ish) km 2018 Isuzu Dmax dual cab.

I will certainly miss the Discovery, and I did look at a few D4, but........ as I said, practicalities and economics.

I sincerely hope that you and that abominable 6 speed auto trans (shared with Prado, Hilux, Musso and others) can live with each other.

I had a new 2019 MuX and only for 12 months because the tranny could never decide exactly which gear it was in.
Gave me the proverbial so much I got rid of it.

Wouldn't hit 6th until about 90 kph; my D4 is in 8th at 80 kph and approx 1150 rpm.

Probably got spoilt as I came from a 2009 TDV8 RRS.

    Now: MY13 D4 TDV6. "E" rear diff. Cambo's magic Engine & Auto Tune. 1968 Austin 1800 Mk1 auto (my 5th)

Thanks, so about $22,000 - but given how much late-model D4s have dropped in price in the last two years it'd be lineball whether you'd replace an engine if it blew up.

It’s absolutely mental LR does not have a supply of short blocks available for the 2.7 and 3.0. The additional cost of each one would have been a few hundred dollars

    Yes, that's the dilemma.

When the engine fails you own something which has pretty much zero monetary value to you + it can't be driven. When you replace the engine you still own something which has pretty much zero monetary value to you (because of what you spent and what it is now worth) but it is a least now drivable.

    There are no palatable solutions.
