Need to order the thermostat (I mean the PRT at the bottom of the engine, not the water outlet in the V) but the part number I've found online is confusing.
Is this the correct part (British 4WD on eBay) for a 2011 TDV6 2.7 D4? Or does the thermostat (PRT) vary from year to year?
The part number is given as LR009562, as you can see, but..
LR009562 is also used in some catalogues to refer to the water outlet in the V I also hear the Water Outlet referred to as "the thermostat" on Disco3 forum - the Workshop Manual names these as

    Water Outlet (given as '5')
    Attachment 191737

Thermostat (PRT) - (connected to hose '16')
    Attachment 191738

Can anyone set me straight on the correct part numbers (and names)?

BTW I plan to replace the Water Outlet in the V with an aluminium unit I have bought. As it is often called a 'thermostat' - is it supposed to contain a thermostatic valve (I read no mention of a TV in the water outlet in the workshop manual, but am I missing something)?

There is nuffink inside that water outlet except air and possibly a Genie looking to escape.
People refer to it as the t/stat hsg but as you realise, it is not.
The alloy ones are good, I have one ready to fit and the quality is fine.

When discussing options with 2 well regarded independent LR mechanics in Perth, both mentioned they have occasionally purchased them (with blown engines) for ~$3k.

JA have released Part 2 of that original vid, sorry i don't have a link ATM
Yes, castrol edge professional 0W20 and 34000km oil intervals on the P400 ingenium straight 6 engines. I changed it at 10000km and plan to continue that. I use LR filters and bought a 20l drum of Edge professional to do the first few oil changes.

I have located an engine, and am just waiting on an estimate for installation from an indie I have known for years and used until I moved away some years ago.
    Fingers crossed.

Even though non DPF for AU spec D4's, I used the C5 enviro+ penrite for about 100,000km with no issues whatsoever, plus penrite engine flush every second change.

Awesome, thank you. This is exactly the clarification I was hoping for - and good news that the outlet is in fact empty (as I could not for the life of me find any reference to any 'thermostat' to fit in the water outlet, but kept reading it called 'thermostat' and just wanted to be sure!).

Even in the Microcat 2012 parts catalogue the water outlet is listed under the heading of Thermostat, although the part itself is labelled water outlet.

Just a typical LR thing to confuse people. What happened to your D3/D4 today?

The Water Outlet is actually listed under “Thermostat/Housing & Related Parts”, but to add more confusion, the actual Thermostat is listed in a different section under “Cooling System Pipes and Hoses”.

I think they just followed the V8 cataloging structure as with the 4.4 the thermostat is the more traditional housing set up and so is listed under “Thermostat/Housing & Related Parts” alongside the water outlet.

    Reduced power mode

Have had this issue for years, never able to duplicate it, but now and then my D4 clicks into a reduced power mode. A restart has always fixed it, but this time, it kept happening. So had to use the beautiful paddle shifters to keep the revs below about 2,200 RPM. I wished the time out when the manual control stops was much longer ... evidently the issue relates to the control on the 2nd turbo.

Knowing what DTCs are logged will help find the cause. A check of the MAP sensor might reveal that it is clogged and if so, use a spray cleaner.
