There is a drive procedure involving multiple runs for specific speeds and gears.
I did it for my 3.0 D4 after the gearbox was rebuilt by ZF then refitted by the local mechanic.
However as my D4 was mostly driven quite sedately, TC slip at slower speeds on light throttle would become annoying but return to being very good once adaptions were reset without doing the drive procedure.

Super ModeratorMaybe 30 years ago. Vehicles have had "adaptive" bits of software since the 90's and any major change requiring a reset of adaptations always requires time to re-learn. The VN Dunnydore could take days of driving for the ECU to adjust to any major changes or part replacement that affected the fuel or ignition systems.
Your experience may be with more agricultural equipment that isn't subject to software that actually adapts, but for anything that does a period of adaptation while the behaviour progressively improves is pretty standard these days.
Of course you may just be using crap mechanics also.
