    Two Month Storage

OK. My 2.7 is booked for a tranny o/haul on 28th of July, so I won't be driving it. My question is, 'Will it be ok to just leave it on trickle from the smart charger, or should I at least start it once or twice, during hibernation?'

I reckon it will be A-OK to just chill out on the trickle charger

    Greetings AULROVIANS,
I replaced the battery in my daughter’s D4.
Could I please ask What the procedure is to let the D4 Operating System know it has a new battery in it?

    4. Turn ignition off
    5. start car
    6. All running ok

Was there anything else to do please ?

I have never heard of this procedure. Normal is to get out your diagnostic tool at run the new battery procedure.

Me neither, I know there are some funny procedures like for cancelling the front passenger seatbelt warning bongs.

The park brake shoe bedding procedure is another strange combination of brake pedal presses and park brake lever pulls

I’ve never had that work, ever. In fact I’ve only had the IID procedure work once in 8 years.

Hi Jeff and there is most likely nothing wrong with the D4.

What can happen when reconnecting a cranking battery ( and this is not just limited to Land Rovers ) but you may cause the Shut-Down or Start-Up process of the vehicles computers to jump to the wrong area of the process

    With a D4, it’s a simple fix.

Turn the ignition OFF and LOCK the vehicle.

Now watch the dash. The Park Brake Light will remain ON for up to 3 minutes.

The Park Brake Light remains ON while the vehicles computers go through their Shut-Down process.

Also Note, you should not work on a D4s electrics at any time until this light first goes out.

Once the Park Brake Light goes out, try starting the vehicle again. all should be well.

    Hi Tim,
I'm new to the D4, so excuse me if this is a dumb question.
Given you can't lock the car with the bonnet open and you can't open the bonnet with out waking up the car.
How do you disconnect the battery to do electrical stuff?

    Tony
