On another note,we came across a nice couple with a broken down new Everest in a caravan park.
While driving slowly to choose a site,a stick had been run over and it had flicked up and gone through the plastic sump.
Apparently, but i don't know how true it is,all late model Everest variants have a plastic sump.
What a smart idea on a so called off road 4WD vehicle......
Went to work and back and some running around as well. Now parked in the shed with battery charger (on a time) attached for daily top up while we're away for a couple of weeks.
Cheers, Dale

Oh no, the plastic bash plate I guess
Is an Everest really an off road 4WD? Seems not[/QUOTE]
No bash plate, just a piece of flimsy plastic undertray......
Robert Pepper has done a few vids on them,no where near the off road ability of something like a Prado.
Kinda makes me think of a breed between a 70's Jeep and one of those Honda square vans.

Sticks are actually amazing things... in a past work life in the earthmoving and forestry machinery sales business, we'd fit 6mm steel "belly plates" under all the hydraulic excavators which went in to the 'bush'. This was to prevent 'things' going up under the machine and doing damage... tearing pipes, electrical wiring, solenoids, hoses, etc. Once we inadvertently left a 25mm gap between two of the belly plates and a stick went through this hole and upwards to nicely pierce the bottom of the radiator.
