My 2015 D4 is coming up to 160,000 km in 4.5 yrs. What should I have done?

Re the 200 Series re map...reason was to better hold top gear and reduce fuel consumption/revs and gear hunting. Toyota recommended it and did the work. Same for the larger chimney.

They also recommended twin snorkels or advised my mate to stay out of the dust saying the engine is worth @ 45k to replace. That would cause me to walk away instantly!

So it's strictly a bitumin cruiser. He was too scared to take it to Fraser isl.. taking a tour bus instead😃

One hopes Toyota has addressed design issues by now.

Good thing for Bruce is the huge trade in value not that a fisherman needs to worry tooo much @ that☺

The UHF has a remote head so the box is under the seat and the mic is fixed using HD velcro just under the stop start button

Tombie no sweat it's a brilliant bit if design and manufacturer if I say so myself. Still going strong as we built for quality. It's a simple removal as the brackets use the tie-down bolts, we put in longer HT ones of course, as the location and fixing points in the back of the car. With the third row seats out most of my tools and all of my recover gear lives there

Will keep you posted. This week is I feel going to offer me a few things to chew over with this change

its been a fantastic vehicle. Just completing a 10,000 km trip around eastern Australia - never missed a beat.

I had the gear box serviced at 80,000 km and the cam shaft belts will be done at the 160k service.

Is there anything else I should have done?

How did your service go?

I just got the same one done on my 2012 SE and I now have an oil leak for the first time. My local bloke wouldn’t do it so I took it to a LR Dealer. About to take it back.

Booked in the last week of November with the local LR dealer.

My 2011 D4 is in at the moment at the local ARB / Repco / 4WD Centre for timing belts, water pump replacement, transmission service including replacement sump and a routine book service. They are not LR dealers or agents, but the owners of the business are LR owners themselves and have good knowledge and resources. Their main mechanic who is working on the car is pretty switched on - they also did the last routine service with no issues. I can't be bothered driving down to Perth for servicing etc any more unless I have other reasons to go there.

OK - I thought I should follow up on this thread with the outcome.

The vehicle is a 2015 Discovery 4 SE 3.0L SC V6 with 160,000 km on the clock.

It has had:

• 182,000 km service as per the handbook
• All filters, including the pollen filter replaced
• Front and rear timing belts, tensioners and tensioner bolt replaced
• Top intercooler hose replaced
• Front and rear diff oils replaced
• Transmission oil and pan replaced
• Coolant junction outlet housing and coolant replaced

I didn't replace the alternator or the water pump, but I will buy new ones to carry as spares when heading for remote places.

Cost = within a bee's dick of $6,500 - $4k (excl.) parts and $1,800 (excl.) labour, and within a few hundred $$ of the rough verbal estimate given to me by the service manager.

I had told them to fix anything else found that needed attention, as its still under extended warrantee - nothing found!

I don't know how long it took to do the service as I just left the vehicle with them while I went away on business for 3 days.

I have never had any other 4 x 4, but I accept that if I drive something as sophisticated as a Disco then its going to cost me more than a go kart!
