Small? It’s 3 damn litres, more than the 2.7 and same as the 3 diesel. Both are charged engines so I’m struggling to understand your point. It’s generally agreed that force charging an engine gives it a 1.7 times advantage (that was the factor used in race series) so that gives it the equivalent of a 5.1 normally aspirated engine - the same as the V8 which everyone says is amazing?????
Happy to discuss the merits of positive displacement chargers such as Lysholm, Whipple or the Eaton screws used on this engine. People have a lot to learn.

It's got 250kw!!
don't worry about the torque figures or how it comes off the bottom.
It's supercharged not turbocharged so it'll take off just nice. You don't need torque. That's what the 8 speed gear box and diffs are for. Yes it'll operate higher in the rev range, that's a pretty high peak HP range for a blower too, nice.
..i was going to point out these basic facts re torque multiplication eg via the auto...kwatts...revs etc. But thought readers would already know this?
Anyhow I'm happy to have opened eyes to another Disco varient that clearly has slipped thru to the keeper.
Ps the cheapest driveline warranty I could get on a similar TD was over 4k for 2 years..that would buy a lot of petrol or parts should they be needed for the SC and so far they don't have a hsbit of lunching themselves.
Cheers!
The specs for the Sc 0-100 is 8 seconds. There is no way this engine could be called slow. Its faster then the SDV6, and a lot quicker then the 2.7 diesel.
The reviews coming out of the USA show its a lovely engine.
Im now really confused how diesel owners could believe it would be gutless?
One of the guys who I often see at work owns one and he loves it. A bit thirsty maybe, drives different to the V8, definitely, but not gutless!

Mmmm...just towed 1000kg of Pal ie horses with the SC d4 and I'm stunned as to why more people did not opt for the petrol engine. Selected horse float mode and no bs..I had to remind myself that there was 3000kg on the back of the car. We are thinking of fitting the nags with parachutes now 😃
Fuel average 14l/100klms. Sure the TD will be better on fuel no doubt but the SC is sooo smooth and effortless in towing.
I freeking love this car. Lr were miles ahead of the game in matching the power pack and providing usefull features...and Cruiser owners are fully stuupid I reckon😆
The ZF 8 speed would be nicely matched to that engine too. Mines the 3.0L SDV6SE with ZF6 that does it well, but the 8spd is the ducks nuts i reckon.
14/100 is good going, i get 13-15 /100 towing a camper trailer and 5 people on board, to me its all in the gearing.
Enjoy the permagrin!
