Been a while since I've posted, been motoring along happily with a 2014 D4 3.0SDV6. Unfortunately after restarting the vehicle at the weekend there was a not very good noise within first 1-2mins of idling. To me it sounded like a belt or something mechanical, no warning lights on the dash.
End result was a tow organised by LR Assist after NRMA guy said "yeah maybe loose belt, pulley and water pump but not seen this before".
Vehicle is now at the main dealer I've been since purchase for service. My question is - should they look after me better than replacement of these items at my cost???
I had the vehicle in for it's 60 month service 2 weeks ago ( same day the LR Assured Extended Warrarty expired ). I had timed that service so if any issues were flagged or updates needed it would be covered. Now I will have to pay $1399 for this repair and vehicle is off the road till Friday as LR have only one water pump available in the country ( which is being transferred from another dealer ) plus other parts from Melbourne.
Has anyone had a water pump fail like this at 43,000km or less? Is that normal and would a scheduled service pick this up? The service agent told me that it's not something could be picked up and I was unlucky.
Asides from replacing tyres all round ( once ), rear pads twice, front once and wiper blades and a new battery I've not had to use the factory or extended warranty so have no experience of how this type of issue is handled.
Appreciate any advice or suggestions.
