As a general rule it is not easy to fit any item that was not configured as the D3 or 4 was built. Each car has a Car Configuration File (CCF) that specifies what is configured. Some of these CCF lines can be edited and some of the item specific software modules can be updated to cater for configurable options that were not selected as the car was built. But it is not as simple as bolt on the new bit and update the file. You would need to possess a reasonable level of mechanical and electrical aptitude and be comfortable editing computer files and updating software modules. With a methodical approach and attention to detail, you may well be able to customise your car as many here have done. But be prepared for failure.
As you have yet to buy your D4, I would suggest taking the time to understand what options are must have and filter your selection criteria accordingly.
This forum is a great source of knowledge, so take the time to look around.
Good luck.
And no, the fact that BSM is made available means that there is a market demand for it. So it is perfectly reasonable for you to want it along with any other option that takes your fancy.
