However if you just replace the plastic one at the same time the timing belt is done then generally there are no issues - so every 7 years or 160,000km.

That's my thoughts too Gary. From what I've read those that have experienced failure of them are generally more than 7 years old as they weren't replaced as part of the timing belt maintenance. I don't imagine that many of these engines are going to have their timing belt done more than twice so that's only twice in 21 years of operation that you hopefully need to do it. At current costs it only adds $80.00 in parts (that's including the three replacement throttle body seals and a new EGR clamp) to the timing belt job.
Thanks mate, but I'm regularly ordered parts exUK to maintain four Discovery's (D1 V8, D2 Td5, D2a TD5 and a D4 2.7) so all over that. I've just done two large bulk orders of service parts including the TDV6 timing belt parts so it was just thrown into there with no additional costs.
On a side note for anyone ordering it, don't forget about the three throttle body seals and replacement EGR clamp that would be good to replace at the same time.
By the time I retire this vehicle it will have had belts at least twice. The plan is to make it the tourer only.
Here they are again:
LR073372 plastic water outlet. Note only includes two out of the three o-rings for replacement are included with it. The third is not available individually from Land Rover. Citroen/Peugeot part number 198171 is a correct fit and match though or Tombie advises that BS211 in viton material is suitable too (and probably quicker, easier and cheaper to source)
Fitting can require disturbance of the throttle body and EGR which means you then need these additional parts too:
Throttle body Rear seal - 1316152 - two required
Throttle body Front seal LR008353
EGR pipe clip 1311338
AFAIK LR part number LR018829 is for the 3rd O ring on 2010 onwards, and 1341370 for 2005-2009. It is also slightly more than a normal O ring with locating fingers on it. Do they actually serve a purpose? I have no idea.
That’s the wrong o-ring. The grooves are for the captive o-rings that are held within the grooves (other two).
Interesting, LR018829 is the Gasket Thermostat Housing for 3.0 Diesel 24V DOHC TC engine. It only lists for the 3.0L engine though, not the 2.7L. From the below diagram, it looks to be included as part of the 1357091 Connection - Water Outlet.

Which is interesting as the 1357091 Engine Water Connector lists for both 3.0 and 2.7 TDV6 motors and is already established that it doesn't include that third seal. Alternative part numbers for the Engine Water Connector (Connection - Water Outlet) are 1331447 or LR073372.
I wonder therefore if there is a stuff up in the Microcat parts listings as that o-ring is not shown in the blow up of the water connector (see below). For GBP 1.94 I've added one to my next UK parts order just to see.
Nope, 1341370 is just the part number for the two o-rings that are included with the 1357091/1331447/LR073372 Engine Water Connector (Connection - Water Outlet), not the missing third o-ring.

Note: both the left and right o-ring are the exact same part number and interchangeable.
