just visually rotate plugs in this image to align with the D4.
Pin assignment is correct just out 90 degrees in the pic.

I’ve had a look thru the forum and can find lots of info on the D3 7 pin trailer plug but nothing on the D4. I’m lead to believe they are different so was hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I’ve just picked up a new off-road camper (Cub) but had troubles with the Tekonsha P3 not detecting a trailer attached, I think the brake pin was the problem but the guys worked it out with a multimeter and had to rewrite the plug. I can’t seem to get max braking at the trailer wheels, very confusing as my previous caravan didn’t need the plug to be rewired. I plugged it in and all was well.
Can someone tell me which pin is the one the brake controller uses to apply current for the trailer brakes?
Many thanks,
Mike

Search for Sniegy and his very long thread on how to wire it.

						Hi Tombie,
Thanks for the quick response. I’ve tried to figure out this diagram previously as I did find it on another D3 tread.
Please forgive my dumminess but I’m not sure what you mean by rotating the diagram. Are you saying to rotate the right plug 90 degrees clockwise? Do the numbers follow the rotation as well?
Also which pin is the brake operating thru?
Thanks
Mike

SubscriberThis is the thread with all the required information D4 Electric Trailer Brake Wiring
My guess is who ever fitted the brake controller just used the blue (Land Rover) wire on the socket, and not the correct pin 5 wire.

Thanks, I have gone thru the link you provided. I’m pretty confident the controller is installed correctly as it was working fine on my previous trailer as stated in my original post.
Cub (my new camper) use the Narva standard which is different to what’s on the D4 plug so they had to change the wiring on the trailer plug.
I want to be sure they have the brake wire on the correct pin (pin 5) so just need to know which pin on the back of my D4 is pin 5, if there is a diagram with the pin assignments that I could use to confirm their wiring of the trailer plug it would solve my problems.
